The Marsi and Clefrin Frelock Book Series is proud to announce its first title: The Freedom of the Sea (Latin: Mare Liberum) by the 17th century Dutch jurist and philosopher Hugo Grotius. The Freedom of the Sea was first published by Elzevir in 1609. This Frelock Book Series version uses Ralph Van Deman Magoffin's translation into English, which was published by Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and Oxford University Press in 1916. Both the original Latin text and the English translation is in the public domain.

This is the web page of The Marsi and Clefrin Frelock Book Series (1). There is nothing wrong with Project Gutenberg, Eldritch Press or the Google Book Search, but they do not always, and perhaps even rarely, publish nicely formatted and highly readable pdfs. Thus, the Frelock Book Series is meant to be a supplement to the other digital libraries of freely available works in the public domain. It is not, however, meant to be remotely as comprehensive. Rather, the Frelock Book Series is a hand-picked collection of a select few of the finest and most important books ever written.
